Current situation
Small organizations and companies in rural areas do not have access to management and marketing support. NGOs, local and western governments are actively financing development projects in water treatment, health, education, agrarian production and handicrafts, where individuals begin to make a productive and entrepreneurial contribution to society. In addition, NGOs rarely have as a primary focus the growth or professionalizing stages of these companies. This can lead to a potential loss of funds and initiative after a successful initial stage. Companies in growth stages have a strong need for business knowledge and expertise. Without these the companies struggle, and a substantial growth potential is untapped both in jobs as well as income.
Our approach
Women on Wings develops local strengths in advising potential that can be applied in the later growth and professionalizing stages of already existing organizations and companies. This advising potential focuses on customer and market-oriented entrepreneurism and results in companies that conform to the latest business models. The business model that appears to work the best in this environment binds local/regional work methods with business models and methods from the West, which in turn accelerates the learning curve and ultimately the growth of the companies. We follow and advise the chosen organizations for a total of 3 years in order to gain satisfactory results in terms of revenue, profit and jobs created. Women on Wings is an initiative in the Netherlands established by two experienced managers who are experts in the areas of marketing, communication and change management.
Retroactive as of January 1st 2008, the Dutch tax department has granted the so-called ANBI status to Women on Wings.
